Joseph Maggs’s 16-year-old client was charged with handling stolen goods obtained in a street-based robbery. The offence dated back to October 2024 when he was 14. His two co-defendants, also 14 at the time, were charged with the robbery.

​All three boys gave no comment interviews and did not give evidence at trial, putting the Crown to proof. Cross-examination of the officer in the case and the identification officer by Joseph and counsel for the co-defendants highlighted deficiencies in the police investigation and in the CCTV footage, on which the Crown’s case primarily relied. All three boys were acquitted and therefore retain their good character.
