Domestic Violence

We advise and act in cases where a person is in the UK on a partner or spouse visa and the relationship has broken down due to domestic violence, and in applications for indefinite leave to remain (ILR) under the Domestic Violence Rule, which allows people to remain in the UK independently of their partner if they can prove that the relationship ended because of physical, emotional, psychological, sexual, or financial abuse.

Members of the One Pump Court immigration team are recognised for their work in this area, including publishing a leading practitioner text, “A Practical Guide to the Law in Relation to Migrant Victims of Domestic Violence.” We work closely with law centres, legal aid providers, and support services to ensure that victims of domestic violence subject to immigration control access their rights.
