Parosha Chandran receives a prestigious legal award from the British Nigeria Law Forum for “Outstanding Contribution”

One Pump Court is extremely proud to announce that Parosha Chandran received a prestigious legal award from the British Nigeria Law Forum for “Outstanding Contribution” to work combatting trafficking and modern slavery.

Parosha’s acceptance speech stated:

“…Representing victims of trafficking, modern slavery and human rights abuses to the best of my capabilities has been the driving force of my career at the Bar. I am ever inspired by the courage and strength of survivors of abuses the world over and it is they who are always in my minds eye when I work towards driving through reformative changes, no matter how difficult that might be, whether through my cases and court-based precedent or through my teaching or advisory work to amend trafficking and modern slavery policy and law.

Next year will be 25 years since I was called to the Bar, and that is exciting for me to reflect on this evening, as your award and your recognition gives me support, drive and encouragement to keep on going.
[…]

I would like to also thank my loving family and friends and my wonderful chambers, One Pump Court Chambers, for being there for me when the days and nights of work were tough, endless and dark and for celebrating with me during the short moments of victory that bring to us lawyers a light that, even for a second, can lift and encourage us to keep going…”
