Ciara appealed against the imposition of a four-year driving disqualification on the basis that it was manifestly excessive, and the sentencing Judge had failed to have adequate regard to the rehabilitative purposes of sentencing. The Court of Appeal allowed the appeal said:

“The appeal has been argued concisely and attractively by Ms. Moran, and we are grateful to her for her oral and written submissions.”
