Experience

Before starting pupillage, Yashna worked as a public law paralegal at Deighton Pierce Glynn, where she prepared and issued judicial reviews challenging decisions on asylum support and homelessness. She brought challenges to delays under the Afghanistan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) and issued judicial reviews under Section 17 of the Children Act.

She also supported the team representing a lead claimant in the Wethersfield challenge (TG and others v Secretary of State for the Home Department [2025] EWHC 596 (Admin)).

Yashna has worked with several grassroots human rights organisations, including Black Protest Legal Support (BPLS), Liberty and IKWRO. At BPLS, she supported Black and Brown protestors who had been kettled or arrested at demonstrations and volunteered as a Legal Observer.

Whilst at BPLS, Yashna also played a pivotal role in the ‘Justice for Blessing’ campaign and subsequent inquest, which demanded accountability for state failings in the case.

As a volunteer at Liberty, she responded to public enquiries on human rights and public law. At IKWRO, she supported the campaigns team’s work to end child marriage, contributing to a campaign that culminated in the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Minimum Age) Act 2022 coming into force.
