Dharsha Jegatheeswaran’s client was charged with one count of religiously aggravated intentional strangulation.
The Crown’s case was that the Defendant had strangled an employee he supervised at work in an incident fuelled by Islamophobia. The complainant reported the alleged incident to police on the same day it was said to have occurred.
At the conclusion of the trial the jury returned a unanimous verdict of not guilty after less than an hour of deliberation.
Dharsha was instructed by Antoinette Woghiren of A&A Law.
