Andréa Hounto successfully represents victim of trafficking and gender-based violence in the First-Tier Tribunal.

SE (Grenada) v SSHD

Andréa Hounto, instructed by Batley Law Ltd, acted for a vulnerable Grenadian Appellant whose asylum claim, based on the traumatic gender-based violence she had been subjected to in Grenada, was refused by the Home Office. The client was particularly vulnerable and it was accepted by the Respondent that she had been subjected to domestic servitude, both in the UK and abroad. Andréa, in her submissions, carefully knitted together the expert evidence with the Appellant’s oral evidence and persuaded the Tribunal to find that the Appellant would face significant risk upon return. The appeal was subsequently allowed by FTTJ Wilsher on humanitarian protection grounds.
