MK v Lambeth LBC

Ahmed and Daniel successful in homelessness appeal

Ahmed represented MK in an appeal challenging the decision of the Council in refusing to provide the MK with accommodation pending the determination of the main homelessness appeal. The appeal challenged the decision on the basis, amongst other things, that the Council had failed to consider MK’s children’s circumstances when deciding whether to provide accommodation pending appeal. The grounds and skeleton argument were prepared by Daniel Grütters as instructed counsel for the main homelessness appeal.

Ahmed was able to successfully persuade a judge on the aforementioned basis that the refusal to provide accommodation pending appeal was flawed and thereby the judge quashed that decision and directed the Council to reconsider the same.Ā  MK was subsequently provided with accommodation pending appeal.

Ahmed was instructed by Amandeep Baines at Duncan Lewis Solicitors.
