Ruby Sayed specialises in Family Law, undertaking complex children cases, both public and private, often representing vulnerable clients (both adults & children) and more recently, Court of Protection work. She has a keen interest and particular expertise in cases involving harmful practices – forced marriage, FGM, honour-based abuse, as well as child abduction, adoption and divorce.
Ruby is trained in direct access and is fully accredited as a family mediator for both children and finances. She currently serves as the Deputy Head of the Family Team and sits on Chambers’ Finance and Employers/HR committees.
Ruby is a Governing Bencher of Inner Temple, where she is the Assistant Master of the House and sits on the Education & Training Committee and Scholarships & Outreach Committee.
Ruby became involved in undertaking Non-Executive and Consultancy work in the alternative finance and renewable energy sectors and is an active Personal Investor and Business Angel in these areas. She acts as a senior advisor for a well known UK based Finance House.
Since 2000, Ruby has served as a Charity Trustee for AWRC (specialist BME domestic & honour-based abuse organisation) and was the Chair of AWRC from 2015 to 2023. She has been a Trustee for Housing the Homeless Central Fund since 2019 and has also served on the Boards (as a Trustee or Advisor) to a number of other charities or community organisations, including Bury St. Edmunds Women’s Refuge (Suffolk) and the Lord Mayor’s 800th Anniversary Awards Trust.
In her spare time, Ruby is a passionate advocate for the rights of women, children and care-experienced young people / care leavers. Ruby herself is care-experienced and was looked after during the latter part of her childhood.
