National Security and SIAC

One Pump Court’s immigration team barristers provide representation before the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC), the specialist UK court that hears immigration cases involving national security and deals with decisions to deport from the UK, exclude from the UK, or refuse citizenship where the government alleges that an individual poses a threat to the UK. These are some of the most serious and sensitive cases in immigration law.

We have experience of complex SIAC procedures involving both immigration and public law, and raising important issues of fairness, secrecy, and fundamental rights. We act in SIAC cases involving confidential material that cannot be disclosed to the individual concerned, where parts of the case are heard in closed proceedings and a special advocate is appointed to represent the individual’s interests in closed sessions.

Our immigration team barristers are trusted to act in cases involving national security litigation. We have acted in SIAC cases involving challenges to deportation, deprivation of citizenship, and exclusion from the UK, and are skilled in this legally and procedurally demanding jurisdiction.
