5 Nov 2021

One Pump Court is delighted to invite you to join a discussion on Women in the Law with Baroness-Butler-Sloss on 18 November 2021 at 5pm. The conversation will be chaired by Victoria Laughton of One Pump Court.

The conversation is part of One Pump Court’s equality, diversity and inclusion series.

Baroness Butler-Sloss was called to the Bar in 1955. In 1979 she was the fourth woman to be appointed a High Court judge, and in 1988 she became the first woman to be appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal. In 1999 she became the President of the Family Division of the High Court of Justice and consequently the highest-ranking female judge in the UK. During her judicial career she chaired the Cleveland child abuse enquiry (which led to the Children Act 1989).

Baroness Butler-Sloss Sloss will speak about her experiences of being a woman at the Bar and the judiciary, which will then be followed by a Q&A session.

This is a free event and will take place at St. Brides Foundation, 14 Bride Lane, Fleet Street, EC4Y 8EQ and online. There are a limited number of in-person places. When booking please indicate if you will attend in person or online.
