Breaking citizenship News …

The Secretary of State has withdrawn her appeal in  R(ota K, a child by her litigation friend) v SSHD [2018] EWHC 1834 (Admin), a case in which our Alex Burrett successfully argued before the High Court that British Nationality legislation was discriminatory against children born to a British father whose mother is married to a person other than the child’s father at the time they are born. Alex was led before the Court of Appeal by Amanda Weston QC of Garden Court Chambers and instructed by Hina Kargar of Lawlane solicitors. Our Victoria Laughton led by Karon Monaghan QC of Matrix Chambers acted for the intervenors JCWI
