Re AE (Bromley FC) [2023] DDJ Rahman

I represented the mother of an 8-year-old in an opposed care hearing.

The mother faced 7 allegations of physical and emotional abuse which she strongly contested. She did not accept that the threshold was made out and invited the Court to reunite her with her son, or place him with a maternal uncle who acted person, represented himself loquaciously, relying on his own 53-page care plan.

  • 7-day final hearing
  • The psychologist and others relied on a non-existent ABE interview
  • The mother unconvincingly argued that she used words differently to others and her admissions were consequently misunderstood
  • A care order was made.
