Raggi specialises in immigration law and inquests, together with related public law challenges. Â She has a broad range of knowledge and experience in all of these areas of work.
Raggi has particular expertise in working with issues of vulnerability and mental health. She has a deep understanding of the impact of trauma on credibility issues in court proceedings.
She has trained lawyers in the UK and internationally on the impact  – often with the Centre for the Study of Emotion and Law – who have led the research in this area. She is able to utilise this knowledge to support her clients and families through legal systems with high levels of success.
Raggi remains passionate and committed to representing clients. She regularly receives appreciation from clients, families and solicitors about her commitment to her work, always going the extra mile.
She is fearless and passionate about ensuring her clients achieve justice and the best possible outcomes. She is committed to ensuring that clients and families are not retraumatised through legal processes.
Raggi has a long history of excellent casework and getting the best result for all of her clients. In 2012 she was shortlisted for Liberty’s Human Rights Lawyer of the Year. In 2021, she was named as Diversity Champion, by the Black Solicitors Network.
Raggi has always been involved in grassroots political/legal work in addition to her legal practice.
In 2006, she set up (and coordinated for many years) the Anti Trafficking Legal Project (ATLeP). She was involved in national and international research and policy work, as well as training and skill sharing.
She was previously a Board member for Imkaan (a second-tier violence against women organisation working with BME communities) and Newhan Asian Women’s Project (a violence against women project – now renamed London Black Women’s Project).
Raggi has extensively trained both lawyers and non-lawyers on various aspects of immigration, human rights and coronial law.
Immigration
Raggi specialises in all areas of immigration and asylum law, appearing before Courts and Tribunals at all levels in the UK.
She is particularly specialised in sex, identity and gender based violence claims, including all forms of violence against women and children and claims based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Raggi is often instructed to act for individuals, businesses, and institutions in relation to business immigration matters arising for investors, innovators, and entrepreneurs under the UK points-based scheme as well as other Immigration routes.
Inquests
Raggi represents families in both Article 2 and non- Article 2 inquests, including deaths in prisons, psychiatric units and community mental health settings.
She has a compassionate, empathetic and committed approach, ensuring that families feel fully supported through these often deeply painful and challenging processes.
Outside Interests
Raggi is the Director of JEDI Consultancy, where she challenges issues of racism and other forms of oppression across a number of sectors.
She is accredited by the International Coaching Federation as a coach.
She has further studied in process work (conflict facilitation), systems psychodynamics (with the Tavistock), and organisational development (with NTL). All are excellent tools to support conflict and change.
Raggi has conducted many investigations into organisations and systems where there are allegations of bias.
